Happenings: LA Market
Last month I had a rare opportunity for a new designer, I got to show my (small) collection of t-shirts, K.Mala Collection, at LA Market. The showroom I was in was in the historic Cooper building in Downtown LA. I really had no clue what I was doing but hey, I guess I could learn something and I did. #1 never trust other people. The sales girl at the showroom actually lost my beautiful line sheets! Only to find them rolled up in her glove box the next day, how does that happen!!??! #2 LA Market is very slow, especially in this economy. #3 Don’t let foreigners take your line sheets!! A group of people from Japan came in, asked me a couple questions in English, proceeded to closely examine my shirts and ramble on, if I only spoke their language! And then took half my pile of line sheets! I am just waiting to see my designs to pop up in some knock off version in Asia. Anywayz…Atleast I got a couple sales and some really good contacts.
